MarineParents.com, Inc. is encouraging communities to recognize Gold Star Mothers and families this September 25 by displaying luminaries in front of residences. A Gold Star Mother is any woman who has lost a child in service to the US, but families of deceased are also recognized on this day.

The public can help honor those that have lost loved ones to the war by displaying a Gold Star luminary in front of their homes on the evening of Sunday, September 25. Local residents can also attend a Gold Star Mother’s Day luminary lighting ceremony on the same evening at Stephens Lake Park in Columbia, Mo. Nineteen states are represented in a list of those who have committed to lighting luminaries on September 25.

Marine Parents is asking supporters to spread the word about this important day to family and friends. For more information on Gold Star Mother’s Day, Gold Star luminaries and the luminary lighting ceremony in Columbia, Mo., please visit www.GoldStarMothersDay.com.
