Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms — The battalion of Marines fought their way into town the previous day, clearing it of insurgents who attacked them with small arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and bombs. Now their objective in this combat training scenario is to make it from their forward operating base on foot across the open desert to meet the malik, the local strong man.
